Jayettes selected to RRC All-Conference teams, earn academic honors
The roster for the Raccoon River Conference baseball all-conference team was revealed Sunday, July 21, listing three selections from the Jayettes 2019 campaign.
Lydia Olejniczak (OF) - 1st Team
Olejniczak turned a lot of heads in her eighth grade campaign, earning a first-team selection after leading the team in a number of batting categories. As the team’s leadoff hitter, she led the way with a .405 batting average, 32 hits, 22 runs, and had four of the team’s five home runs. She was also first with 11 stolen bases and was caught just once.
Jayna Kenney (P) - 2nd Team
Providing good power at the plate with 19 hits and 11 runs scored, only trailing Olejniczak, Kenney made her mark in the circle. Starting 17 times in 25 appearances, the freshman led the team with a 6.00 ERA to improve upon her previous campaign. She also led the way with 32 strikeouts and allowed a .305 ERA.
Kennedy Tunink (OF) - Honorable Mention
Batting down the order, Tunink made the most of her at-bats as the team’s third-leading hitter with 17 hits. While she only crossed home plate five times, she led the team with 11 RBIs and drew a team-high 10 walks. The sophomore also hit her first career home run.
The following students grades 10-12 lettered with academic all-conference team status after receiving a GPA of 3.25 or higher: Adriana Eastman, Jasmyn Barck, Cassidy Heck, Libby Hasting, Bella Nath, Jasmine Shriver, and Kennedy Tunink.
Additionally on Tuesday, the Jayettes earned the IHSAA Academic Excellence Award after achieving a 3.00-3.25 team GPA.
