Dougan, Meister, Olejniczak named to RRC All-Conference Team
The roster for the Raccoon River Conference baseball all-conference teams were revealed Sunday, July 21. Perry received three selections for the Bluejays’ 2019 season.
Kaleb Olejniczak (OF) - 1st Team
Olejniczak was a first-team selection after leading the team with a .384 batting average, 28 hits, and six extra-base hits. As Perry’s leadoff hitter, the senior also only struck out five times and was one of just 60 players in the state to have five or fewer K’s in 70 or more at-bats.
Avery Meister (P) - 2nd Team
One of three junior pitchers rotating throughout the season, Meister started a team-high 10 games. Coming into the season with a 5.42 ERA from his sophomore campaign, Meister dropped down to 5.01 for the bullpen’s best mark. He also lifted his K/9 from 4.35 to 7.68 after tossing 43 strikeouts this season.
Kato Dougan (INF) - Honorable Mention
In his junior campaign, Dougan led the team with 12 stolen bases on 12 attempts. He was also second on the team with a .242 AVG and had Perry’s lone home run of the season.
The following students grades 10-12 lettered with academic all-conference team status after receiving a GPA of 3.25 or higher: Kaden Boyer, Conner Kenyon, Kaleb Olejniczak, and Kolby Wolfe.
Additionally on Tuesday, the Bluejays earned the IHSAA Academic Excellence Award after achieving a 3.00-3.25 team GPA.
