Several area athletes named to All-State Teams

Several area athletes have made it on to their respective sports’ Iowa All State teams.

Perry High School Senior Kaleb Olejniczak has been selected to the Iowa Print Sports Writers Association 2018 Class 3A All-State Football Third Team as a defensive back. Olejniczak was also selected to be a part of the Iowa Football Coaches Association Academic All-State Team.

Woodward-Granger Student-Athletes Reese Jamison, Jack Grell, Bryce Achenbach, Pacey Moats, Jay Dorenkamp, and Justin Wheeler have all been selected to the Academic All-District Team for 2018.

Jamison was named to the Second Team for utility and Kris Kammerer was named to the Second Team All-District as an offensive linemen. Also on the Second Team All-District was Joe Rhodes as a defensive lineman and Cale Pritchett as a defensive back.

Kade Polich was named to the First Team as a defensive lineman along with Jackson Newland who was named as an offensive lineman. Also on the First Team was Achenbach, Tate Lettow, and Gabe Yingst. Achenbach was named to as a running back, Lettow as a running back, and Yingst as a line backer.

In addition to those honors, Yingst was named to the second team for All-State as a line backer, and Achenbach was name to the first team as a defensive back.

Keith Braunschweig, Jon Jones, and Matt Hansen were each recognized under the Honorable Mentions.

Ashlyn Soelburg and Anna Tague have been named to the Iowa 2A Central All-District Team for their achievements in volleyball.
