Bluejay runners succeed at AC-GC Invitational

Perry Cross Country saw hot and windy conditions for their meet at AG-GC on Thursday, Sept. 20. The invitational hosted twelve total teams on the girl’s side with the Jayettes placing sixth overall and thirteen teams on the boy’s side with the Bluejays coming in third overall.

Jaylene Karolus placed seventh individually with a time of 23:24.39. With less than two seconds between the next two Jayettes’s finishing times, Kailey Crawford placed 30th in 26:30.20 followed by Molly Lutmer at 31st in 26:31.74. Next to cross the finish line from Perry was Kennedy Tunink at 56th place with a time of 28:59.19. Cris Gomez came in at 89th in 34:12.47, Marleni Grijalva was 94th in 34:37.81, and Kanyshai Abdieva was 98th in 36:01.49.

12th place in the boy’s race went to Eduardo Sanchez who finished in 20:16.58. Not far behind him was Mario Cruz who finished 20th with a time of 20:52.32. One runner separated Cruz and Mohamed Abdelnabi who came in 22nd place with a time of 20:57.81. Ethan Miller came in 32nd in 21:52.08, Hayden McFarland was 33rd in 21:54.02, and Tomas Lopez was 44th with a time of 22:46.39. The next Bluejay to cross the finish line was Tony Burgos who placed 52nd with a time of 23:35.31 followed by Calvin Sass at 54th in 23:38.23.

The Perry Cross Country Team was one week before their next meet which will be the Leon Fox Invitational at the Perry Golf & Country Club on Thursday, Sept. 27.
