Jayette volleyball prepares for in-season

Although fall athletics teams are still far from their first in season games, Perry High School Volleyball wastes no time in the summer as the team meets several times per week to prepare.

Head Coach for the Jayettes volleyball team John Fulton hosts open gyms and weight lifting every Tuesday and Thursday morning.

Coach Fulton says these summer practices are an important aspect in helping to set the tone of the program.

“[The team and I] just want to make sure we are all in and that we are all really a part of the program,” Coach Fulton said. “We have got to be able to improve, get better, and compete once the season starts.”

Coach Fulton also stated he and Assistant Coach Paige Wilkin want the team to be well prepared for their first conference game of the season.

During these open gyms the Jayettes will work on things such as their serve-receives, passing, hitting, and setting.

Incoming sophomore Quinn Whiton says she uses the extra practices as a way to gain more experience at the varsity level.

“I personally do not have a lot of experience playing on the varsity team so I want to get in all the work I can to be the best for my team,” Whiton said.

Perry volleyball will play their first game on Thursday, August 23 at Greene County beginning at 5:30 p.m.
