The Perry Bluejays (8-15) held off the Knoxville Panthers (10-11) nine inning rally for the 5-3 home win.

On June 24, the Bluejays hosted the Panthers in a close non-conference affair, which saw the road team strike first in the second with a solo run.

After a scoreless bottom half, the Bluejays countered in the third with five runs that erased the deficit and put the home team ahead.

For the next three innings the score remained the same with both teams unable to get things going.

In the top of the seventh, the Panthers put together a two run rally that cut the home team’s lead to 5-3. The Bluejays held tight and spoiled any Panthers chances.

The Bluejays hitters connected for five hits, drew six walks and struck-out twice.

Tonight, Perry welcomes conference rival the Carlisle Wildcats.
