Bluejays unable to halt Toreadors

After a historic win for head coach Mike Long, the Perry Bluejays (7-15, 4-6) weren’t able to carry that momentum into a road meeting against the Boone Toreadors (18-3, 10-1).

On June 23, the Bluejays posted just two runs in a 12-2 loss against conference foe the Toreadors. For 3 1/2 innings the Bluejays kept themselves within striking distance.

After the home team opened up the game with two runs in the first and another two in the third, the road team battled back with two runs in top of the fourth.

Boone quickly quelled any chance at a comeback with three runs in the bottom half, four more in the fifth and a final run in the sixth.

Toreador starting pitcher Jackson Hull allowed Perry just their two runs off six hits while not giving up a walk and fanning one.

Tonight, the Bluejays host the Knoxville Panthers.
