The Perry Jayettes (8-6) swooped into Saydel on June 16 and won a non-conference bout 7-0 against the Eagles (12-4).

It was a stellar performance for the road team as they controlled the flow of the game early and held a good Eagles team scoreless.

Perry’s starting pitcher Emma Olejniczak kept the home team off balance with a six strikeout performance while just giving up three hits and walking one.

In the first inning the Jayettes tagged on three runs, which was all they needed in Thursday’s contest. Head coach Tina Kenney watched as her team’s offense got the ball rolling early.

Johanna Diw started the inning with a single that saw her advance to second after Sidney Vancil, according to Kenney, exeucted a perfect push bunt single.

Alyssa Kruger drew a walk that was followed by a Rachel Kinney RBI double that brought in Diw from third base.

Olejniczak then delivered an RBI ground-out to extend the lead at 2-0. An Eagle pass ball later allowed Kinney to reach home plate for the team’s third score.

In the fourth with the bases loaded Jayette Maddy Jans’ two run single pushed the lead to 5-0 when she sent home Kruger and Kinney with Olejniczak advancing to second.

After a Gabby West single, Diw drove two more runs home for a Jayette 7-0 lead and the eventual victory.

Diw led all hitters with a 3 for 4 performance including a double, two RBIs and two stolen bases. West, Kinney and Olejniczak each finished with two hits. Brooke Huntington, and Vancil each contributed a hit.

Today, the girls will head to Roland Story for their first of two games against the Norsemen and South Hamilton Hawks. The first game is scheduled for 1:30 p.m.
