Puente freezes Tigers in their tracks
Perry’s Janier Puente silenced conference rivals the Tigers, 7-0, for a home win that snapped the Bluejays losing streak.
On June 15, the Perry Bluejays (5-11, 3-4) hosted the visiting ADM Tigers ( 2-11, 1-5) for their final battle of the season.
Puente pitched the complete game shutout giving up just two hits, walking one and fanning six.
The home team got on the board early with two runs in the bottom of the second, which was followed by a Kade VanKirk two run single in the fourth to push the lead to 4-0.
In the seventh, the Bluejays extended their lead to seven after putting up three more runs, which halted ADM’s chances at a comeback.
Janier Puente earned the win after he pitched six innings striking-out six, walking one and allowing two hits. Kyle Nevitt took over in the seventh. He struck-out two and walked one.
Nevitt, Kaleb Olejniczak, and Alexis Garrido tied each other with a team leading two hits. Nevitt drove in a run, Garrido drove in two runs and Olejniczak scored twice.
The team looks to keep that momentum going on June 16, when they travel to Saydel to take on the Eagles.
Game and individual stats will be updated as it becomes available.
