Hawks tune-up Tigers

Hawks’ offense exploded for 17 runs on 20 hits against the host Tigers.

The Woodward-Granger Hawks (8-4, 5-0) silenced the Guthrie Center Tigers (3-5, 0-5) in June 7th, match-up to a tune of 17-4 to stay undefeated in the West Central Conference.

It didn’t take long for the road team to belt out a solid lead. In the first two innings they scored a combined six runs.The Tigers countered with four runs in the third to cut the deficit to 6-4.

The Hawks ended the Tigers’ momentum with a nine run third inning to take a commanding 15-4 lead.

Hawks Riley Jamison got the starting nod. In the short-ended four inning contest , she kept the road team at bay, giving up three earned runs on eight hits with two strike-outs.

The visitors added another two runs in the fourth for the victory.

Jamison, Megan Bandstra and Miranda Aunspach each had three hits for a combined five RBI’s. Dalaney Bice, Carli Major, Maggi Mallon, Kendra Husmann, and Bree Lesch contributed two hits each and 10 total RBI’s.

The girls are off until June 10, when they host Pleasantville.
