Softball: Hawks lose to Lady Jays

One run was all the visiting Woodward-Granger Hawks (3-3, 3-0) mustered against the host Bondurant-Farrar Lady Jays (4-4, 0-3).

Their bats laid silent throughout the Friday, June 3 contest between the two non-conference teams. The Hawks were down two runs early in the second when the Lady Jays scored twice to take a 2-0 lead.

In the top of the third inning, the Hawks managed to cut the deficit to 2-1. It would be the last time any W-G players crossed the plate.

The host tagged the Hawks for another run in the fifth to increase their lead to 3-1 and an eventual victory. Bondurant-Farrar ended their game with five hits on 21 at bat.

As a team the road team belted six hits against Lady Jay Hope Holzworth, but failed to capitalize with runners in scoring position.

The team competed in Saturday’s Varsity Tournament at Belle Plaine High School.

Stats for Friday and Saturday’s games will be updated as it comes in.
