Olejniczak pitches gem against Tigers

Jayette Emma Olejniczak tossed a one hitter on Wednesday night to beat the Tigers 3-0 and snap Perry’s losing streak.

After struggling in their last three games,the Perry Jayettes (3-3, 1-2) behind the arm of Olejniczak, shutout out the Visiting Carroll Tigers (1-3, 0-3).

Olejniczak gave up one hit and fanned 12 while only walking two to give the home team their third win this season. At the plate she was 1-4 with a double.

As a team, the Jayettes belted eight hits and defensively had a perfect night with zero errors.

Head coach Tina Kenney was proud of how her team bounced back after some unlucky games.

“We’ve been playing well, just haven’t caught a break,” she said. “Tonight we finally chipped away enough to get what we needed.”

The game was knotted in at zero for three innings until the fourth when Perry scored their first run to take a one run lead.

In the bottom of the sixth Alyssa Kruger smacked a two run homer that created some breathing room at 3-0. At the plate, she led the team going a perfect 3 for 3.

Teammate Rachel Kinney went 2-3 with two singles. Both Victoria Hegstrom and Sidney Vancil contributed a hit.

Tonight the Jayettes play host to conference rivals the Boone Toreadors.
