Hawks offense comes alive against Tigers

The Hawks thumped out 12 runs and blanketed the host Tigers for their fifth win to stay undefeated in the conference so far this season.

A scheduled seven inning bout lasted just three on Wednesday, June 1, when the W-G Hawks (5-1, 3-0) earned the 12-0 victory over the Guthrie Center Tigers.

Hawks starting pitcher Riley Jamison picked up her third win. She tossed a near perfect game in three innings of work allowing just one hit and striking-out two.

As a team, W-G finished with 11 hits in 19 at bats. Twelve went for singles, four were doubles and a solo homerun by Dalaney Bice.

Bice and teammate Megan Bandstra led the team at the plate with a combined 6-6 night. Bandstra had the two doubles and drove in two.

Kendra Husmann, Maggi Mallon, Riley Jamison, Carli and Kaycee Major each contributed a hit. Husmann and Mallon finished the evening with three RBI’s each. Carli and Kaycee each drove in a run.

The road team got on the board early in the bottom of the first with five runs. They followed it up with seven runs in the second and third.

Up next the girls will travel to Harcourt on Thursday to take on the Southeast Valley Jaguars.
