From concerts to new venues, here's what to expect at the 2021 Iowa State Fair (so far!)
It's a go! Well almost certainly.
Iowa State Fair CEO Gary Slater told the Register in February that barring a huge and unexpected resurgence of the coronavirus, there will be a fair. So here's what you need to know about the 2021 Iowa State Fair.

When is the 2021 Iowa State Fair?
The Iowa State Fair begins Thursday, Aug. 12, and concludes Sunday, Aug. 22. Over the 11 days, about a million people will attend, taking in old favorites like the Giant Slide and the Ye Old Mill and sure to be favorites like the Elwell Family Park.

What COVID-19 precautions is the Iowa State Fair taking?
The State Fair announced in early July that it would not have capacity limits or require masks.
Officials say they're following guidance from the U.S. Centers of Disease Control and Prevention, including increasing cleaning and having hand sanitizer available.

- Sam Hunt with special guest Kip Moore (Aug. 14).
- Boyz II Men with Bell Biv DeVoe (Aug. 15).
- The Beach Boys with special guest Hanson (Aug. 17).
- Styx with special guest Tesla (Aug. 18).
- Chris Stapleton with special guest Nikki Lane (Aug. 19).
- Five Finger Death Punch (Aug. 20).
- Pop duo Dan + Shay, with special guest Russell Dickerson (Aug. 21) (replaces previously scheduled Keith Urban).
The State Fair food
BaconFest co-founder to replace Iowa State Fair's Diamond Jacks with new 'pork-centric' concession and bar: Brooks Reynolds, the co-founder of Des Moines' Blue Ribbon Bacon Festival, better known as BaconFest, will take over the Diamond Jacks space with a new concession and bar. The bar will have a few soft openings in July and full open capacity beginning on Thursday, Aug.12.
Iowa State Fair free concerts
Free entertainment line-up features the Nadas, Tony! Toni! Toné!, Color Me Badd, and more: The Iowa State Fair will offer free entertainment with a mix of various genres from indie rock, hip-hop, and '90s pop.
A bigger craft beer tent
Iowa Craft Beer Tent is building a more giant, better tent for the 2021 Iowa State Fair: The Iowa Craft Beer Tent will be
three times the size of the previous one. The new tent will be located west of the Richard O. Jacobson Exhibition Center near Gate 10.
New event venue
New $2 million Elwell Family Park to feature rodeos, monster truck meets, and more at the Iowa State Fair: The Elwell Family Park will open partially through the fair on Aug.17 and 18 for a tractor pull.
The $2 million project is situated in the northwest corner of the fairgrounds. The park will also become a hot spot for other events like monster truck meets, rodeos, barbecue competitions, and other family-friendly events.
