Faustino Mendez Castro, a 47-year-old man from Perry, was killed in a vehicular crash in Grimes on Monday.

According to the Polk County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to an accident at the intersection of Highway 141 and NE Beaverbrooke Boulevard on the north side of Grimes at around 10:40 a.m. Monday. The preliminary investigation showed that the rear-end crash involved four vehicles, including one towing a trailer.

Evidence on the scene and witness statements indicated that southbound traffic was stopped at a red light when the operator of a pickup truck failed to stop and rear-ended Castro, who was driving a 2008 Nissan Sentra, pushing him into a trailer being pulled by another pickup.

Castro died at the scene.

No other information was immediately available. Officials are still investigating the scene.
