Country, blues and more to be featured in new Ames concert series 'virtually anywhere'
An Ames Parks and Recreation concert series, "Virtually Anywhere," will bring live music to people's homes as the need for social distancing during the COVID-19 pandemic continues.
The concerts, live-streamed from the Ames City Auditorium, will kick off with folk and blues musician Vanessa Ellsbury at 7 p.m. Jan. 14. Live concerts will be broadcasted on Youtube and Facebook Thursday nights through the end of March.
“By providing a live-streamed event, concert-goers are able to experience these artists and the beauty of our auditorium without having to leave their home,” said Ames Auditorium, Bandshell and Community Center Manager Craig Kaufman, according to a news release. “The pandemic has been difficult for live music performances, so being able to provide this platform for live music is a win for everyone.”
Featured artists come from Ames and other parts of central Iowa. Future performances will feature Matt Woods, whose discography includes urban electric blues, gospel country and folk; Danny Grause, a country and Americana musician; singer-songwriter Evan Campbell and cover band The Cherrypickers.
More artists will be announced at a later date. People can purchase optional virtual tickets to "support this event and the artists performing," according to the release. For more information, contact Kaufman at 515-239-5365 or email@example.com.
