1. Blood drive

2-6 p.m. Friday, Sept. 21 at Dallas County Hospital.

LifeServe Blood Center is urging donors to get back into the swing of giving blood. Start back in at a blood drive in your community. 2. Fish fry

5:30 - 7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 21 at Minburn American Legion.

The Minburn American Legion is hosting a fish fry on Sept. 21. Free-will offering. Bring your family.

3. Meet and greet

5:15-6:15 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 22 at Perry Golf and Country Club, 352 330th St.

Perry Area Democrats will be hosting a meet and greet for Fred Hubbell, Democratic candidate for Iowa Governor on Sept. 22. The public is invited to come and take this opportunity to ask questions and visit with Fred.

4. Fall pork dinner

5-7 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 22 at Washington Township School, 7 miles south of Perry at corner of P-58 and F-31.

Washington Township School is hosting a fall pork dinner on Sept. 22. A free-will donation will be taken, with the proceeds going to the restoration of the Washington Township School.

5. Lifelong Learners Coffee

9 a.m. Monday, Sept. 24 at Perry Public Library large meeting room.

We welcome guest Danny Steiber, of Waverly, who will present his program, Barn Quilts and the Underground Railroad. Steiber will share his knowledge of barn quits, their history and the role they played in the underground railroad during the Civil War, including in our own state of Iowa. Everyone is welcome to attend this free event.

6. Wall of Witnesses unveiling

5 p.m. Monday, Sept. 24 at Soumas Court, 1112 Willis Ave.

The 24th addition to Perry’s Wall of Witnesses will be unveiled on Sept. 24. The late Dallas “Pete” VanKirk will be honored during the celebration with a relief, created by Newton sculptor Rick Stewart. The entire community is invited to the celebration. Comments from friends and family will be heard and light refreshments will be served.

7. Office grand opening

3-6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 26 at 1220 Willis Ave.

The Perry Area Democrats have a new office at 1220 Willis Ave. in Perry. They will be hosting a grand opening on Sept. 26. Come visit the office and take this opportunity to visit with some of our Democratic candidates. The public is invited.
