Aureon recently announced that an Aureon Charity Grant has been awarded to Minburn Fire Fighters Association. The grant was presented in conjunction with Minburn Communications, who sponsored the grant application. Upon reviewing an abundance of applications, the Aureon Charity Grant Committee delegated funds to projects committed to the betterment of local Iowa communities.

The funds will be used to purchase several pieces of wild land firefighting equipment, including new backpack sprayers, hand tools and firefighting personal protective equipment.

“The timing of acquiring this new equipment is nearly perfect as we’re entering a period of the year where we tend to see the frequency of accidental wild land, agricultural and other outdoor fires increase as farmers begin harvesting crops and vegetation begins to dry out,” said Rescue Captain Dan Case, Minburn Fire and Rescue. “The Minburn Fire District has a wide variety of outdoor environments that we protect ranging from wooded areas along the Raccoon River; several miles of the Raccoon River Valley Trail; grasslands and obviously thousands of acres of crop ground so the addition of this equipment will help us better respond to fires in all of those environments. Without grant funding we would be unable to complete projects like this.”

“Minburn Communications appreciates the efforts of Minburn Fire and Rescue. Their passion and dedication to protecting our community greatly impacts us all,” commented Debra Lucht, CEO, Minburn Communications “We are proud to partner with Aureon to make this grant possible.”

“Aureon is delighted to support nonprofit organizations that enhance the quality of life for Iowans,” said Ron Keller, CEO, Aureon. “We look forward to aiding future community-improvement projects and extend our best wishes to your community.”

The Aureon Charity Grant Program was created in 1993 to increase service and support to rural independent telecommunications companies and the communities they serve. The Aureon Charity Grant Program awards grants on a quarterly basis. Over the course of 25 years, Aureon has donated over $950,000 to Iowa nonprofits through the grant program.
