Sleep apnea is a serious sleep disorder and is very common. According to the National Sleep Foundation, more than 18 million Americans suffer from this disease. Dallas County Hospital has recently partnered with SomniTech® to provide both in-lab and in-home sleep studies to our community. Raccoon Valley Bank recently awarded Dallas County Hospital with a $2,600 grant.

The grant will allow the facility to acquire another kit for Home Sleep Testing. After a brief training by a healthcare provider, individuals can take a portable sleep diagnostic device home for a self-administered sleep test. This could save the patient or the patient’s insurance company money as the typical cost of a home sleep test is only a fraction of the cost of an in-lab sleep test.

“We are committed to delivering the best possible care to our community and this technology makes sleep studies easier for the patient as well as more affordable,” stated Audrey Erickson, Dallas County Hospital Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehab manager.
