Perry Boy Scout Troop 127 held a pancake breakfast on Saturday, July 21, 2018. The breakfast was held at the Perry Elks Lodge and started slow but finished strong.

“While it wasn’t as busy as we would have liked, we did raise some money and gave the boys a great experience,” said Scoutmaster Dave Crooks.

The breakfast served as a general fundraiser for the troop. They are looking to purchase some camping gear and individual camping kits.

According to Greg Haglund, scout committee member and volunteer, “the troop is running a little low on funds right now so we’re trying to build up some money. A pancake breakfast, simple, fun little event helps the boys learn some things.”

Haglund attributes a lot of the success of rebuilding the troop to current Scoutmasters of Troop 127, Crooks and Don Lee.

“Part of being a scout leader is helping to build leadership and character,” Haglund said.

Between the three of them, they hope to see some differences in the boys over the current scouting season.

“Being an Eagle Scout myself, makes me want to see the troop succeed and the boys learn and grow,” explained Haglund. “Getting them out in public and learning different skills is very important. We’re always looking for new scouts to join.”
