The first-ever Run Through Time 5K Fun Run was held on Saturday, July 14 at the Spring Valley campus of the Perry Lutheran Homes. The run was sponsored by Perry Lutheran Homes as part of its StepUp campaign.

Director of Marketing Mollie Clark said in an earlier interview that the purpose of the event is to raise awareness for the needs of the elderly in Perry and the surrounding area.

A pre-race Zumba workout got the participants ready to go. Racers then lined up at the start line decorated with an arch of balloons. Lawrence Bice led the race in his older model car. Music from the 2010s to 1930s accompanied the racers as they ran backwards and forwards through time.

Water balloons greeted the racers at the end of the fun run. Other activities included a bake sale and face painting.
