Members of Perry Elks Lodge No. 407 recently performed their semi-annual trash pickup along Highway 141. The lodge sponsors a one mile stretch of highway through the Iowa Department of Transportation Adopt-A-Highway program.

This program gives the Perry Elks Lodge, as well as the many other groups and individuals who volunteer in other locations across the state, an opportunity to improve the appearance of their stretch of highway.

The Perry Elks adopted their stretch of highway in 1989 and have been cleaning it for the past 29 years.

“This is just another way the Elks give back to our community. We’re proud to participate in a program that benefits our community. It may seem like simple trash pickup but if we can keep this stretch of Perry clean, it makes our community seem more attractive to visitors,” said Exalted Ruler Dave Davis.
