The Dallas County Fair returns this July.

The fair will take place July 6-10 at the Dallas County Fairgrounds in Adel.

There is free front gate admission, free parking and the fair is aimed towards all ages.

Jennifer Schaefer, board member for the Dallas County Fair specializing in advertising and fair promotions, said several new attractions have been added including a dunk tank fundraiser, a new carnival, an Outlaw truck pull, a Bubble Gum Blowing contest and others.

Predicted to be the most popular event for the fair, by Schaefer, this year would be the Mutton Bustin’.

It is a Friday evening event where children could come rodeo ride a sheep.

“It was highly popular last year so we are bringing it back,” Schaefer said. “It was something new and different.”

Other popular events include Figure 8 racing, a pre-fair show in June, the 4-H competitions and the animal showings, she said.

Schaefer added that if you can only go one day, it should be Saturday.

“There are things going on every day, but if you don’t want to miss work and you wanted to come out, Saturday is packed full of events going on,” Schaefer said. “Whether it be an animal show or an entertainment activity.”

It is an entertaining fair, Schaefer said.

“We are a rural community and I think it gives suburban community an opportunity to see the agricultural features of the town,” she added.
