The Perry community donated more than 2,000 pounds of food.

Lou Hoger, board member and volunteer for food acquisition with the Perry Area Food Pantry, said he would like to thank the Perry post office, St. Patrick’s Catholic School and locals for donating 2,438 pounds of food to the non-profit.

“An over-flowing grocery cart holds around 250 pounds,” Hoger said. “The food pantry board wants to sincerely thank every person who donated through either campaign.”

These donations will keep the local food pantry supplied for several months, reducing the commodities that will need to be purchased from the Iowa Food Bank or local grocers, Hoger added.
