Ground officially broke at the future home of the Pattee Park soccer complex.
The city and members of Tyson held a ground- breaking ceremony for phase one of the soccer complex on June 8.
Mayor Jay Pattee said Tyson got the ball rolling on the three-phase soccer complex last summer after the business donated $100,000 towards the project.
“A majority of our employees’ favorite sport is soccer,” said Terry Wilkinson, chaplain of Tyson. “So they already love this.”
He also added that a yearly soccer tournament is held for Tyson’s employees.
Phase one of the soccer complex, slated to be complete in the fall of next year, will include a parking lot, a pond and a trail system around the pond.
