Granger Catholic School receives culture grant

Assumption Catholic School in Granger has been awarded a generous grant from The Community Foundation of Greater Des Moines and Bravo Greater Des Moines. Assumption received over $170 through the Connecting Kids and Culture program.

“Assumption Catholic School is excited about the opportunities the Connecting Kids and Culture Grant will provide for our students as it enriches their educational experience. The rich variety of arts and cultural organizations in Greater Des Moines is a true asset to central Iowa,” said Principal Cindy Pezzetti.

The Connecting Kids and Culture program provides funding for admission fees and transportation to educational experiences outside the classroom and provides opportunities for educators to bring local arts and cultural experiences into their schools, while directly aligning community-based arts and cultural learning to core curriculum objectives.

Pezzetti said the Assumption teachers will be able to choose from a variety of in-class activities as well as experiences outside of the classroom when deciding how to use the grant money.

The Community Foundation of Greater Des Moines and Bravo Greater Des Moines fund the Connecting Kids and Culture program with proceeds from The Principal Charity Classic. This program provides cultural experiences for over 45,000 students in Polk, Dallas and Warren counties.
