A Perry man allegedly sexually assaulted a woman at the library.

Gebrentensaye Gebrehiwot, 26, of Perry, was arrested after the victim said he took her hand and placed it on top of his penis outside of his clothing and touched her breast inside her shirt at the Perry Public Library.

Eric Vaughn, Perry Police chief, issued a press release that said the victim asked Gebrehiwot to help her with homework at the library. The two agreed and sat at a table in the library, then the assault happened.

The police chief said after the assault the victim left then called police.

Officers collected evidence and then located Gebrehiwot the following day. After an interview, he was placed under arrest.

Gebrehiwot is charged with third-degree sexual abuse, a Class D felony and assault with intent to commit sexual abuse, an aggravated misdemeanor.

He was later transported to the Dallas County Jail. Gebrehiwot posted bond on Sept. 8 and was released pending a court date.
