He started carrying papers for the town’s newspaper in February of 1947.

Gary Cox, 78, of Sedalia Missouri, stopped by the Perry Chief last week and reflect on memories.

He was in town for Perry High School’s 60-year class reunion. Cox left town when he was 33-years-old.

About once a year he comes back to Perry.

This year, he was impressed with the Perry Chief’s new building. “I’ve known this building for a long time,” Cox said. “It looks much nicer now than it has ever looked. There were bars in here.”

Cox delivered newspapers for about six years. In Missouri he still gets the Perry Chief.

Cox said he enjoys reading the Perry Pet articles.

While Cox was in the building, other Perry Chief visitors and readers recognized him and asked how he was doing.
