The Meals from the Heartland program, a PHS Volunteer Week activity, packaged precooked meals for Haitians as well as for the Perry Food Bank. Students packing the meals are, from left, Louise Peitz, Guidance Counselor Tami Valline and Kylie Brandt.

Compliance Office Mike Ware, left, leads PHS students Anthony Guardado and J. R. McCord in leaning up the yard of an abandoned house in Perry as part of the Volunteer Week activities.

What the rain did not wash away of the window paint, the Bluejay cheerleaders did—with a little help from the Perry Fire Department—on Sunday afternoon. Cheerleader Coordinators Linda Huntington and Kris Finn were also on hand to direct the cleanup. “We hadn’t painted the downtown windows for the last few years,” Huntington said, “but the response this year was really good. People seem pleased to see the tradition return.”
