ALLEMAN — The Woodward-Granger wrestling team sent just six grapplers to the varsity portion of the North Polk Invitational Dec. 21 but came away with one champion and several placers.

Race Brant (17-2) finished first at 145 pounds after pinning CMB’s Frank Mittlestadt in 2 minutes, 39 seconds and BCLUW’s Ryland DuChane in 1:34. He won the title with a 17-2 major decision over Joe Hageman of Hudson.

Colton Milosevich (17-1), ranked sixth at 113 in Class 2A, stepped up to 120 pounds and placed second. He pinned Garrett DeYoung of Panorama in 56 seconds and Albert Meier of Boone in 3:36 before losing by fall to undefeated Taylan Entriken (15-0) of Hudson in 3:20.

Tanner Vermaas (13-7) bounced back from a loss in the semifinals to win twice and place third at 152 pounds, with Kaleb Noel finishing fourth at 126 for the Hawks.

Josh Keubler (132) and Aaron Sperling (138) also competed for W-G but did not earn a placing in their respective weight classes.
