After 10 games into his second season as Woodward-Granger softball head coach, Owen Hunter announced his resignation immediately Sunday, June 2.
W-G activities director Matt Eichhorn confirmed Hunter’s decision early Monday morning. He said Hunter’s resignation was for personal matters and that the program wishes him the best moving forward.
Eichhorn also confirmed second-year assistant coach Jessica Wyant will take over through the end of the season. No decision on a replacement coach for 2020 has been made.
Wyant is currently a fourth grade teacher at Woodward-Granger Elementary.
With a young roster, the Hawks have started the season 0-10 after dropping three games at the Ballard Classic over the weekend. Under Hunter, the team has a record of 4-40 overall.
The Hawks will take on Ogden in Woodward on Monday night with Wyant in her new position.
