It has been a banner year for Perry senior Delaney Eiteman. Routinely finishing near the top of meets throughout the season, she found a new peek at the Raccoon River Conference Meet at Winterset on Monday, May 6.

Turning in a scorecard of 90 strokes, Eiteman not only recorded a season-best score on 18 holes down but took fourth-place overall.

That was a 10 stroke improvement over her previous low for the season and was only three strokes behind RRC champion Sydney Haakenson from Carroll. Eiteman’s score was also particularly startling, as her season average of 103.67 hardly deviated from her previous record, making her finish even more meaningful.

Overall, Carroll dominated the green from top to bottom, taking first place with a card total of 371 followed by Winterset at 407, and Ballard at 422.

Beyond Eiteman the group of Jayettes struggled to find their footing, falling to seventh place out of seven participating schools.

The season isn’t over yet for the Jayettes, though. They will travel to Ames on Tuesday, May 7 for a reschedule varsity meet from a canceled even from April 11.
