Six Woodward-Granger seniors finished their high school football career with a huge win. The Hawks were at Colfax-Mingo on Friday, Oct. 19 for the 2018 season finale and took home a 30-0 win.
The first of many touchdowns against the Tigerhawks saw Gabe Yingst carry the ball just five yards into the endzone followed by the extra point from Matt Hansen to put the score at 7-0 in the first quarter of the game. Reese Jamison was also one to score for his team when he received a seven yard pass from Keith Braunschweig. Hansen finalized that second touchdown with another PAT to heighten the score in the second quarter.
Coming out of the first half leading 14-0, Hansen took that momentum and put his team ahead even further with a 39 yard field goal. Yingst took his turn at scoring again with an eight yard touchdown with Hansen coming in with another successful PAT to go into the fourth quarter 24-0. Tate Lettow ended the night with one touchdown of his own that came in the fourth quarter as the junior ran 22 yards to rack up the final score.
Lettow and Cale Pritchett each came out of the game with five tackles while Yingst had the team high of six. Reese Jamison and Jackson Newland were right in the middle with a total of 5.5 tackles each while Joe Rhodes came up with four tackles and Achenbach ended the night with 3.5 tackles.
Yingst, Newland, Rhodes, Wyatt Rosenbaum, and Jon Jones ended their senior season with a winning record of 5-4.
