W-G runners continued to show improvement as they competed in their second meet of the season at the Madrid Cross Country Classic on Thursday, Aug. 30. The Hawks’ girls team came in second place with a score of 57 and the boys team was at fifth with a score of 107.

Coming in at second overall for the girls’ competition was Josie Noland with a time of 23:01 which was just one minute off of the the first place time.

Soon to follow her was Bella Milosevich and Ava Peterson at 11th and 12th place with times of 25:05 and 25:06. There was one runner separating Posey Robinson who came in 15th and Natalie Helbling at 17th place. Robinson had a time of 25:35 and Helbing’s time was 25:39.

Six almost consecutive W-G runners were the next to finish from the team starting with Chloe David at 20th place in 26:35, Sydney Grell at 21st in 26:40, Mackenzie Dresback at 22nd in 26:53, Kaitlyn Smith at 24th in 27:23, Kayley Dresback at 25th in 27:29, and Katie Grell at 26th in 27:42.

The first W-G boy to finish in his race was Alex Bice coming in at 14th with a time of 19:05. Following him was Dylan Steele at 17th with a time of 19:38 and Caleb Jones at 19th with a time of 19:52.

Next up was Xavier Ibarra finishing in 21:00 and place 29th followed by Noah Gleason who ran in 21:33 and finished 37th.

The Hawks will go to their next meet at Ballard on Monday, Sept. 10.
