At the Beaver Creek Golf Club Public Course in Grimes, Perry’s Alyssa Kruger finished with a 9-hole round of 47 for runner-up honors.

Despite the May 14, wet conditions where the golfers contended with standing water, the Jayette senior finished only three strokes behind medal winner, Lydia Steier of DC-G.

In her latest match she recorded a par, five bogeys, and three triples, considering how tough it was to navigate the course, according to Perry’s head coach Joel Happel.

As a unit the Jayettes combined for a final score of 224. Hannah Roberts shot a 55, Skylar Cunningham a 59 and Delaney Eiteman a 63.

The host DC-G Fillies captured the top spot with a round of 204, with Perry second, and the Winterset Huskies in third with a 249. DC-G’s junior varsity team finished with a 295.

This season Kruger has gotten familiar with medalist honors as she led all golfers with a score of 45, at the Thursday, May 14, meet at the River Valley Golf Course in Adel.

The 9-hole competition saw the Jayettes finish second with a combined 213, only three strokes behind first place winners, the Ogden Bulldogs. The host A.D.M Tigers were third with a 226, and Hoover H.S. was fourth with a 264.

Joining Kruger was Skylar Eiteman and her score of 55. Hannah Roberts was a stroke back with a 56, and Delaney Eiteman shot a 57.

Up next, the squad heads to the Oakland Acres Golf Club on Monday, May 2, for the Class 3A Regional meet.
