After a 3-1 start to their season, the Perry Jayettes soccer team dropped their latest two matches in back-to-back nights.

On Friday, April 27, the Jayettes (3-3) lost a closely contested 3-2 battle at home against the Cardinals of Newton. (4-5).

Perry’s junior Natalie Martinez accounted for the team’s two scores. She finished with a total of four points after connecting on unassisted goals.

Guarding the net was split between sophomore Odaly Perla and senior Salena Garcia. Perla played the majority of the contest where she gave up all three goals in 70 minutes. Garcia played 10 minutes.

The day before On Thursday, April 26, the Jayettes suffered a less than close defeat when they were dealt a 4-1 blow against the Des Moines Christian Lions (8-1).

At Des Moines, the Lions, whose only loss thus far was against the Cardinals, scored three goals against Garcia and one against Perla. The two goalies split the 80 minutes of playing time.

Martinez added another goal to her season stats. She finished with two points. Teammate Sydney Guerra added an assist.
