After suffering their first loss of the season last Thursday, April 17, in a 2-1 affair against the Lady Jays of Bondurant-Farrar, the Jayettes bounced back in their latest contest.

In their third Raccoon River Conference matchup this season, the Perry Jayettes (3-1) soccer team not only scored a season high five goals, but in the process held the winless Boone Toreadors (0-4) scoreless.

On the road in Boone on April, 20, Perry’s offensive firepower was on display. Junior Natalie Martinez led all scorers with three goals.

In just four games this season she has averaged two goals per contest, which places her second in the RRC behind the Lady Jays Emma De Costa, who has 13 goals but in eight games.

Senior Sydney Guerra and freshman Cris Gomez had a goal a piece. Gomez had the team’s only assists. Martinez finished with a six total points, Gomez with three and Guerra with two.

Senior Salena Garcia played 75 minutes in front of the net where she blocked two shots. Sophomore Perla Odaly played the other five minutes.

The squad is back in action on Thursday, April 26, when they travel to Des Moines for a non-conference bout against the Des Moines Christian Lions.
