With only one loss in their first five meets, the Perry Jayettes golfers apparently have gotten into the swing of the season.

Their latest victory came this past Thursday, April 12, when they put a damper on the North Polk Comets’ hospitality, with a decisive 9-hole round score of 210 to 269.

Perry’s senior Alyssa Kruger continued to add to her medal count with yet another medalist finish. She led all golfers with a score of 45.

“Alyssa Kruger was a medalist for the third time in three tries for the year,” had coach Joel Happel said.

Kruger’s early on success seems to be flowing into some of her teammates, who according to Happel, one in particular had a great showing at North Polk.

“Molly Lutmer was the story, he said. “Molly is splitting time between golf and soccer and this was her first high school meet. A very good score anytime but this was her first meet and the course was the Tournament Club of Iowa, which is probably the toughest course we will play all year.”

Lutmer finished three strokes behind the leader, with a 48. Delaney Eiteman’s 58 and Hannah Roberts’ 59 rounded out the final two scores.

After two straight weather postponements, the Jayettes will look to continue their early season success when they hit the links on Friday, April 20, at the Carroll Country Club.
