At Woodward-Granger’s latest competitive event Hawks’ wrestler Cody Fisher finished off his day of matches with a first place medal at this season’s Gary Christensen Invite.

The 195-pound second ranked Fisher wasted little time in rolling over his four opponents at the Jan. 6, invite hosted by Winterset Huskies.

He began his run to his championship with an 66-second, first-period pinfall win versus

It was then on to the next round where he took down Urbandale’s Cole Secaur 38 seconds into the first period.

The pinfall victories continued to mount when he beat out Interstate 35’s Antonio Arzani it what proved to be the Hawks longest match of the day at 2 minutes and 50 seconds.

Fisher completed his string of undeterred victories when in just 84 seconds was able to pin Winterset’s Parker Maynes.

Other W-G grapplers who recorded a place finish. Both Austin Scharlau (152) and Gabe Yingst (160) each finished fourth, Tyler Lawrenson (220) and Dillon Fogarty (285) placed fifth while Hunter Pierce (106) finished sixth as did Ryan Munoz (120).

In eighth place were Colt Palmer (132) and Jay Dorenkamp (138). A quintett of Hawks’ participated but couldn’t quite place. Cole Carman (145), Cale Pritchett (170). Dilynn Lewiston (113), Tate Lettow (126) and Kade Polich (182).
