Sally Bailey, 84, of Perry died Thursday, Jan. 16 at Perry Lutheran Home in Perry.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, Jan. 21 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Perry. Visitation was Monday, Jan. 20 from 1-7 p.m., with family present from 5-7 p.m., and a vigil service was held at 7 p.m. at Carris Family Funeral Home.

Burial took place in Violet Hill Cemetery in Perry. Memorial contributions will be given to St. Patrick’s Church or School and may be left at the Funeral Home.

Sally A. Bailey was born Sept. 28, 1929, in LaCrosse, Wis., to Frank and Mildred (Hiles) Schomers.

Sally moved to Perry in 1941 and graduated from St. Patrick’s High School in 1947.

She was united in marriage to Jack Tingwald in Perry and was the proud mother of five children: Ann, Jim, Susan, Jane and John. She married Richard (Dick) Bailey in 1977.

She had special interests in cooking, reading, the Perry Public library and St. Patrick’s church.

Sally was a longtime member of St. Patrick’s Church, serving in many capacities over the years, with her most recent project involving helping to document the church’s history.

Survivors include her husband, Dick, of Perry; her children, Ann Mathews of Indianapolis, Ind., Jim Tingwald of Alexandria, Va., Jane (Ron) DeLay of Indianapolis, Ind., John (Lori) Tingwald of Boone, Rhonda (Kent) Knepper of St. Petersburg, Fla.; grandchildren, Molly (Ron) Bureta, Megan Mathews, Josh (Jessica) DeLay, Cayce Cullinan, Ben DeLay, Andrea (Dan) Negrete, Leslie Brosig and Keisha Knepper; great grandchildren, Wylder Bureta, Jack DeLay, Nolan DeLay, Ryder Cullinan, Brad DeLay, Sam DeLay, Carmen Negrete, Alaina Negrete, Barrett Brosig and Rhidian Brosig, niece Susan (Jim) Swanson, nephews Mike (Sarah) and Tom Schomers and their families.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Mildred Schomers, daughters Susan Tingwald Cullinan and Sandra Bailey Miller and her brother, Jerry Schomers.
