Howard H. Bash, 88, of Perry, formerly of Oelwein, died Wednesday, Jan. 15 at the Lutheran Home in Perry.

Funeral services were held at 10:30 a.m., Monday, Jan. 20 at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home in Oelwein with Rev. Duane Olsen officiating.

Visitation was from 3-7 p.m., Sunday at the Jamison-Schmitz Funeral Home, with a public Masonic service at 7 p.m. on Sunday at the funeral home by the Oelwein Hebron Masonic Lodge #374 A.F. & A.M.

Interment was in the Hazleton Fontana Cemetery in Hazleton, Iowa.

Howard Harrison Bash was born April 28, 1925, in Webster City, Hamilton County, Iowa, the son of Howard and Doris (Raven) Bash.

At the age of 14 he moved to Colesburg to live with Raymond and Rhea Klaus. He graduated from Colesburg High School in 1944.

Howard was united in marriage to Lillian Elsie Weitman on June 22, 1947, at the First Presbyterian Church in Hazleton.

Howard worked at John Deere Tractor Works in Waterloo for 39 years.

He moved to Perry to live near family in 2012.

Howard was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Hazleton.

Howard is survived by his two sons, Kenneth (Sheila) Bash of Mason City and Kevin Bash of Cedar Falls; daughter, Karen (Kevin) Rhodes of Perry; seven grandchildren: Jason (Denise) Bash of Omaha, Neb., Rachel Bash of Eugene, Ore., Angela (Shawn) Westendorf of Bode, Joshua Bash of Kansas City, Sarah Bash of Cedar Falls, Benjamin Bash of Kansas City and Adam Lingner of Perry; five great grandchildren: Alex, Rebekah and Lillian Westendorf; and Naomi Bash and Gillian Bash; and many niece and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Lillian, on April 30, 2005; two sisters, Delores and Betty; and a brother, Robert.
