Barbara McKnight-Danaher, age 72, of Perry passed away on Sunday, January 27, 2019 in Perry, IA. Funeral services will be held Monday, February 4, 2019, 10 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Perry. Visitation will be on Sunday, February 3, 2019 from 1-4 p.m. at the Carris Family Funeral Home & Cremation Care in Perry. Burial will be in the Violet Hill Cemetery in Perry beside her parents. Barbara Lynn McKnight-Danaher was born January 9, 1947 at Perry, IA to Robert Meredith and Evelyn Eileen (Bender) Pinnell. She attended Perry High School graduating with the class of 1965. She attended the University of Iowa receiving a bachelor’s degree in nursing.

Barbara was united in marriage to Rich McKnight and they had 4 sons together. She was later united in marriage to James (Jim) Francis Danaher at Fairview Methodist Church on November 24, 2001.

She worked and taught at the Methodist School of Nursing in Des Moines, school nurse for Perry Public Schools, Director of Public Health Nurse for Dallas County and was Director of Nursing for Child Serve in Johnston, IA, and Director of Nursing for Perry Health Care, retiring to care for her parents.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Perry, IA, Rotary and PEO. She enjoyed gardening, golf, playing bridge, Hawkeye sports, supporting her children and grandchildren and her bad puns.

In death she rejoins her parents, Robert and Evelyn Pinnell.

Left to cherish Barbara’s memory are her husband Jim, children, Matthew (Leslie) McKnight of Grinnell, IA, Jason (Cari) McKnight of St. Charles, MO, Brendan McKnight of Ankeny, IA, Nick (Ariel) McKnight of Perry, IA, 2 step-daughters, Kelly (John) Olson, Johnston, IA and Trisha (Andrew) Olson, Ankeny, IA , 9 grandchildren, Cade, McKenna, Meredith, Lily, Helen and Ryder McKnight, Roman, Parker, Kellan and Camden Olson and the Arnold/Pinnell cousins.

Barb’s family would like to thank Suncrest Home Health and Hospice for the phenomenal care that allowed her to remain in her home.
