Ann Marie Hanson “Annie” (Tinkey), age 59, passed away on September 29 at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice home in Bettendorf, Iowa. Ann was born February 13, 1959 in Cedar Falls, IA. She was the daughter of Lloyd and Carol Perkins Tinkey.

Ann was a 1977 graduate of Yankton High School in Yankton, SD where she was active in band, tennis, and track. During her youth Ann was an active member of the 4-H club and won numerous awards from exhibits she showcased at the South Dakota State Fair. After High School, Ann attended the University of South Dakota for one year and continued on to Nettleton College in Sioux Falls, SD where she obtained her Medical Assistant degree. She worked for a short period of time for a doctor in Sioux Center before becoming a stay at home Mom to the three children she had with Randy DeKoter.

In 2000, Ann met Eric Hanson in Perry, Iowa. They dated for a period of time before marrying November 24, 2000. The couple moved to a farm in Viola, IL where they raised horses, cows, chickens, goats, and dogs. She always dreamed of having and boarding her own horses. She and Eric enjoyed trail riding together through their woods.

Ann got a job working for the John Deere corporate office in Moline, IL as an Accounts Payable specialist. She worked in this position for a period of time before transferring to a position with John Deere Harvester Works in East Moline. She worked her way up to becoming a Parts Buyer for the factory. Ann was incredibly proud of this position and the company she worked for. She worked for John Deere for 17 years before being forced to quit working due to illness. While working for John Deere she had the opportunity to complete her degree at Ashford University where she received her Bachelor’s in Business Administration. Ann graduated Suma Cum Laude.

Ann is survived by her husband Eric Hanson of Viola, IL; son Matthew (Dar) De Koter of Ackley, IA; daughters Jana DeKoter (Josh) of Perry, IA; Michelle (Tyler) Shetler of Urbandale, IA; and step-children Jamie (Travis) Walker of Buffalo, IA; Jarrod (Sarah) Hanson of Ames, IA; and Jacob Hanson of Fort Carson, CO; grandchildren Alyssa DeKoter, Malaya DeKoter, Brooklyn DeKoter, Sophia Summerson, Madelynn Shetler, and Theo Walker; parents Lloyd and Carol Tinkey of Mason City, IA, sister Judy Tinkey of Sioux Falls, SD, brother Mark Tinkey of St Paul, MN; and fur children Dude, Bill, Bella, and Murphy.

Ann is preceded in death by her grandparents Ray & Rose Tinkey and Clinton (Happy) and Wilma Perkins and one fur child, Ted.

The family will be present for a visitation on Wednesday, October 3 from 5-7 p.m. at Slininger – Schroeder Funeral Home, 119 West Lincoln Way, Jefferson, IA. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, October 4 at First United Methodist Church, 307 South Wilson Avenue, Jefferson, Iowa, with a luncheon to be held immediately after the service. Private burial will be scheduled for a later date.
