Perry Theatre to present ‘My Cousin Rachel’

Intrigue, twists and turns, period costumes, interesting characters – theater-goers will find all of this and more in the Perry Community Theatre production, "My Cousin Rachel," by Daphne Du Maurier, slated for Aug. 9 and 10 at the McCreary Community Building Theater. Tickets go on sale Wednesday at the McCreary Community Building and cost $10. The play will be given at 7:30 p.m. Aug. 9 and Aug. 10 at the McCreary Building Theatre.

Cruz’n for a Cure Classic Car Show is Sunday, Aug. 11, 4-7 p.m. at the Rowley Masonic Community, 30000 Willis Ave., Perry.

The event, sponsored by Team Rowley for Relay for Life of Northern Dallas County, there will be door prizes, food, D.J. music and a 50/50 drawing. Bring lawn chairs.

The Bock Family Foundation, Inc., of Perry is accepting grant applications for its fall granting period. The Foundation is a non-profit supporting organization for the benefit of organizations operated for religious, charitable, scientific, literary or educational purposes.

Projects funded must be located in Dallas County. Applicants must be a non-profit organization or unit of state or local government. The Foundation awards grants in the spring and fall. Application deadlines are March 1 and September 1. Applications for the fall must be postmarked or delivered to the Foundation by Sept. 1.

Becoming an Outdoor woman

It’s time for women to answer their "call of the wild" by registering for the Becoming an Outdoors-Woman (BOW) workshop Sept. 20-22, at Springbrook Conservation Education Center, in Guthrie County.

The workshop is aimed primarily at women, but is an opportunity for anyone 18 years or older to learn outdoor skills usually associated with hunting and fishing, but useful for many outdoor pursuits. Workshop topics include basic fishing, fly fishing, bird watching, archery, beginning shotgun shooting, basic motor boat skills, geocaching, canoeing, stand up paddling, Dutch oven cooking and more. The cost is $150 which covers food, lodging and materials for the workshop. The registration fee increases to $180 after Sept. 6.
