Due to recent rainfall, Saylorville Lake’s water level is on the rise resulting in the closure of Cherry Glen Lower Boat Ramp, Oak Grove Beach and the Control Tower Road. The areas will be closed until the water recedes and cleanup can be performed. Please obey all gates, signs and barricades as they are placed for your safety.
When Cherry Glen’s High Water boat ramp parking lot reaches capacity, boaters will be redirected to an alternative boat ramp. Other available ramps include Sandpiper, Lakeview Main, Lakeview High Water and Lincoln Access.
Boating conditions may be hazardous on Saylorville Lake due to submerged hazards and floating debris. Not all hazards are visible; debris can lie just under the surface of the water. Extreme caution should be taken while operating vessels on the lake. All vessel occupants should wear their PFD’s (life jackets) at all times. Also reduce travel speed, avoid boating after dark, watch for and obey all buoy markings.
Visitors may receive current information regarding the status of all recreation areas by calling the lake information number at 515-276-0433. Lake level information and predictions can be accessed at www.rivergages.com. Saylorville Lake is in the Rock Island District, Des Moines River Basin.
