Take Your Child to the Library Day

10 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 15 at Perry Public Library.

Perry Public Library invites patrons to participate in this year’s Take Your Child to the Library event, scheduled for Saturday, Feb. 15. This is a fun, family-friendly event for children up through second grade, and its purpose is to inform the public about our library and its services. Participants are encouraged to sign up for a free library card. There will be a carnival, face-painting, cookie-frosting and each child who attends receives a free book. Take your child to the library and discover a world of information and entertainment!

Trumpeter Swan Soiree

11 a.m. - 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 15 at Walnut Woods State Park, West Des Moines.

Join Iowa DNR, Polk County Conservation and the Dallas County Conservation Board in celebrating North America’s largest waterfowl species! Saturday programs will be given both indoors and outdoors at the Walnut Woods State Park lodge with concurrent outdoor viewing and interpretive presentations of trumpeter swans and wildlife. Spotting scopes and binoculars will be provided. Hot chocolate, hot cider, cookies, hot dogs and other snacks will be provided free of charge! Free, no registration required.

Perry Fine Arts Concert

2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 16 at Perry Performing Arts Center, 1200 18th St.

The Perry Fine Arts Series continues with Grand Ave Ruckus at 2 p.m. on Feb. 16 in Perry High School’s Performing Arts Center. Perry Fine Arts concerts are free, donations accepted, and open to all. The Performing Arts Center is handicapped accessible and air conditioned.

Monthly Book Club February Discussion

1 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 18 in Clarion Room at Security Bank Building, 1102 Willis Ave.

The Perry Public Library Monthly Book Club will hold their February meeting on Tuesday, Feb. 18. The selected title for discussion is “Warlight” by Michael Ondaatje. Winter Star Gazing

Earlier in the winter, we invited you to look up and seek the beauty of the night skies. By scheduling this second opportunity to venture out under the stars with us, we hope to engage you in a search for patterns, rhythms, cycles in the sky. Medicare Basics Seminar

5-6:30 p.m. Monday, Feb. 24 at Perry Public Library.

Perry Public Library will host a special Cars Party on Monday, Feb. 24. This program is designed for preschool and elementary school children, ages four through eight, and it will include activities, games and a light supper, all with a Cars theme.
