Kids, and sometimes parents, dressed up and went trick-or-treating in Perry on Thursday, Oct. 31.

Residents walked up and down Second Street in the afternoon for the annual Spooktacular event. Businesses and organizations handed out treats to kids and parents. First Christian Church hosted a Trunk or Treat and Showtime Dance and Tumbling Studio performed during the event.

Many then headed to the Dallas County Hospital. Various hospital departments got into the Halloween spirit by dressing up and handing out non-sweet treats and toys during the Safe and Healthy Halloween event. Hy-Vee handed out apples, while Spring Valley residents handed out treats. The Perry Volunteer Fire Department also had a truck parked outside to hand out treats to kids as they walked out of the hospital.

Kids and parents then went door-to-door during the trick or treat portion of the evening.
