Woodward-Granger Elementary students have been participating in the American Legion Auxiliary Poppy Day Poster contest for the past two years.

Each fall, the fourth and fifth grade students design posters that illustrate the sacrifices of our military members. The posters were to show how the American Legion Red Poppy represents their commitment and sometimes giving up their life to keep us free.

The art teacher, Mrs. Kruger, and the fifth grade teachers were the instructors for this project. Mr. Garland, Mrs. Huneke and Mrs. Winkel had the students make posters in their classrooms. Then they are sent off for judging by the American Legion Auxiliary members in the Woodward- Granger area.

Sunshine Casey, Callie Reber, Abby Van Gundy, Lilly Lovell and Oscar Potter received Honorable Mention awards and a keepsake coin. Avery Van Zelderan’s poster went on to the district competition. We wish him luck!

Thank you to our wonderful military members and veterans for their sacrifices for our freedom.
