Summer Reading Registration Begins - May 1
Summer Reading at Perry Public Library will begin with registration for all age groups, Wednesday, May 1, at the library or online. The theme is “A Universe of Stories,” and the library will offer age-appropriate programs for Children (infants through 5th Grade), Teens (6th-12th Graders) and Adults, as well as reading incentive prizes and grand prize drawings. Join us for a whole universe of summer reading fun!
Dallas County Toddler Fest - May 4
Perry Public Library will participate in the Dallas County Toddler Fest from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday, May 4 at the Dallas County Fairgrounds, Adel. Toddler Fest is sponsored by 4RKids and the Dallas County Library Association, and its purpose is to promote free services and activities for young children and families in our county. Representatives from Blank Park Zoo and the Science Center of Iowa, the Dallas County Libraries, and other area agencies and organizations, will be on hand with educational and promotional materials. Each toddler will receive a free book! This is a fun event for kids, who can enjoy face-painting, crafts and activities, movie character appearances, a fire truck, farm animals and more. Don’t miss this free, family friendly event!
Monthly Book Club - May 21
The May 2019 meeting of the Perry Public Library Monthly Book Club is at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, May 21 in the Clarion Room of the Security Bank Building, 1102 Willis Ave. The selected title for discussion is “Code Girls” by Eliza Mundy. Discussion leader is Library Director Mary Murphy and all interested readers are welcome to join the group. Books are available at the library.
Library Closed for Memorial Day - May 26, 27
Perry Public Library will be closed Sunday, May 26, and Monday, May 27, for the Memorial Day holiday, and summer hours will begin Tuesday, May 28. The library will then be closed on Sundays until after Labor Day.
