Perry Optimist Club recently held their annual essay contest with interested Perry High School Juniors. 14 essays were submitted with 3 places being awarded.
Genesis Garnett received 1st place while Jordan Long and Sierra Shore-Newton received 2nd and 3rd respectively. Perry Optimist member Linda Andorf awarded the medals. Andorf was a teacher at Perry High School for a number of years and substitute teaches on occasion.
The topic of this year’s contest was “When All the World’s Problems are Solved, is Optimism Still Necessary?”
Garnett’s essay will now be placed in the District contest with hopes of moving on to the state competition.
